TBNC & SETTLEMENT HOUSING FUND INAUGURATE THE RAIN GARDEN AT TWO BRIDGES TOWER

In April 2022, Two Bridges Neighborhood Council and Settlement Housing Fund, marked the finale of an 8-year construction of a rain garden project. It is located on South Street between Rutgers Slip and Pike Street facing the East River on the property of the Two Bridges Tower at 82 Rutgers Slip. In 2013, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection awarded both organizations, under their TwoBridgeset Associates L.P. title, the Green Infrastructure Grant  to improve the green infrastructure for Two Bridges Tower.

Residents from the building participated in the design of the space, including selecting new playground equipment and green infrastructure. The project provided experiential learning about climate change for neighborhood youth.

We are grateful for all the work and coordination to make this happen including our partnerships with John Mini Distinctive LandscapingDLandStudio, Hester Street Collaborative, Settlement Housing Fund, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection, Grenadier Realty CorporationM&M InstallationTwo Bridges Tower Tenant Association, and more.

This project was funded in part by the NYC Department of Environmental Protection.
