Officially listed in the National Register in 2003, the Two Bridges Historic District recognizes some of New York City’s earliest historical sites in the area between the Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges along the East River.
It was in this neighborhood, during the construction of the Alfred E. Smith Houses in the 1950s, that the Two Bridges Neighborhood Council was formed.
