TBNC Partners with the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice to Conduct Resident Surveys

This past October, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ), Two Bridges Neighborhood Council conducted environmental justice resident surveys in the Two Bridges neighborhood. Information from the surveys will be used to inform an upcoming report on environmental justice.  The report will recommend changes to the City’s agencies and how they can improve their decision-making and collect feedback from communities and residents who are most impacted by climate change. Two Bridges Neighborhood Council hosted community tabling at various locations around the neighborhood and scheduled one-on-one survey sessions with Chinese seniors, who often need assistance navigating digital surveys due to language barriers and access to technology.

Special thank you to the community partners who assisted us in engaging residents, especially Aixa Torres from NYCHA Smith Houses, Frank Avila-Goldman from Gouverneur Gardens, Bonnie Lumagui from Hamilton Madison House, and local tenant advocate and TBNC Board Member, Debbie Leung, who provided language translation to local Chinese-speaking seniors. We look forward to learning the results of the survey and providing access to the MOCEJ environmental justice report when it becomes available.
