Two Bridges Music is glad to congratulate Emily Chen, Jivan Ramesh and Phyllix Qin for their recent musical achievements and hard work!
Emily Chen was a candidate for the ABRSM Grade 6 piano exam on October 18th 2017 and passed her examination “with merits”. Emily Chen is currently studying piano with Zura Kobakhidze at Two Bridges Music.
Jivan Ramesh, a 9-years old cellist and composer competed at the 2017 Sinovision Teen Talent Show this past October and after advancing to the finals took home the 2nd prize silver medal. For the first round of the competition, Jivan performed his own written arrangement of the piece “Eternal Vow” by Chinese composer Tan Dun on the cello. As for the final round, Jivan composed his own Chinese inspired composition titled 鸟和锦鲤 “The Bird and The Koi”. Jivan says that he wanted to compose a piece to use different techniques on his cello to mimic different Chinese instruments such as Pipa, Guzheng, Drums, and Erhu. Jivan started writing music when he was 4 years old. Since Spring 2017 he is taking composition lessons with pianist, composer and Two Bridges Music director Cyrus von Hochstetter. Two Bridges’ music program is currently guiding 4 composition students between the ages of 7 – 13 in writing their own orchestral pieces for a planned concert with Interschool Orchestras of New York on May 17th, 2018 at Broadway Presbyterian Church. The pieces will be performed by one of ISONY ensemble, a string orchestra made up of young musicians between the ages of 9 – 11. For this project, Jivan is rearranging and orchestrating his solo piece that he recently wrote and performed for the Sinovision Teen Talent Show.
Our congratulation and encouragement also goes to Phyllix Qin for the hard work and courage in participating in the first round of Sinovision’s Teen Talent Show. Phyllix Qin a Two Bridges Music piano student and takes piano lessons with Zura Kobakhidze.
