Two Bridges Fresh Food Box

 Food Box

Purchase high quality, farm fresh produce at below retail prices!

Since 2013, Two Bridges has partnered with GrowNYC to operate the Fresh Food Box Program, providing Two Bridges’ residents with fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the farm.

Each produce bag -- “Fresh FoodBox” -- contains the best of the season, including salad greens, tomatoes, peaches, corn, cooking greens, apples and more!

Here’s How It Works:
  • Each produce bag costs just $12 and contains 6-9 varieties of local produce.
  • Residents sign-up each week and pay for pick-up on the following Thursday between 3:30pm to 6:30pm. RESIDENTS MUST SIGN UP AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE!
  • We accept Cash, Debit, EBT and Health Bucks.

ABOUT GROWNYC’S FRESH FOOD BOX PROGRAM

 GrowNYC

GrowNYC's Fresh Food Box Program is a food access initiative that allows underserved communities to purchase fresh, healthy, locally-grown produce in pre-packed boxes containing the best of what’s seasonally available on regional farms. Fresh Food Box customers can take advantage of the cost benefits of buying in a group, and enjoy the quality and variety of a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share with the flexibility to buy by the week rather than by the season.

BACKGROUND ON THE TWO BRIDGES FRESH FOOD BOX PROGRAM

Two Bridges, on Manhattan’s Lower East Side is an ethnically and economically diverse community. It is, however, among the lowest-income neighborhoods in Manhattan, and has one of the highest rates of reliance on food subsidy benefits.

Since the Cherry Street Pathmark’s closure was announced in October 2012, Two Bridges Neighborhood Council has worked with community residents, CBOs, businesses, and elected officials to identify alternative measures to provide fresh and affordable food to local families.

Two Bridges’ partnership and participation in the Fresh Food Box Program is part of a larger commitment and effort to protecting and enhancing access to fresh and affordable food in the Two Bridges neighborhood.

Support for this work was provided by the New York State Health Foundation (NYSHealth)
